The challenge and starting materials

The project began with an existing cover direction, a supplied 33-page layout/manuscript and established story illustrations. The task was to bring those materials into a consistent cover and interior presentation, rather than create a new story or replace its illustrations.

Supplied earlier Luma cover direction before the redesign
Earlier supplied cover direction reproduced from the case-study PDF, page 2. The final cover above shows the documented redesign.

The work needed to consider title and author hierarchy, front-to-back cover continuity, a readable back-cover copy area and a comfortable reading layout inside the book.

Design and formatting decisions

The cover redesign connected the front and back through the book’s Sky Realm imagery. The title, character and author name were given a coordinated hierarchy. Back-cover copy was placed in a defined area that could be read against the artwork.

Inside the book, child-friendly typography, compact read-aloud lines and attention to the gutter supported the supplied text and illustrations. Ownership and title pages introduced the book before the story. Alternating text and illustration pages kept the visual presentation consistent.

How this documented work relates to the GRANT Framework:

A: Align the listing and presentation.

Luma illustrates presentation through its documented cover redesign and interior formatting. The project ended at print-file delivery and did not complete the other framework stages.

Delivered outcomes and the boundary of the work

The observable outcome was a coordinated paperback cover and formatted interior, delivered on 8 October 2026. The supplied 33-page layout/manuscript became a 35-page print interior with the added front matter. The final PDFs brought the cover and reading layout together as a print package.

This project ended at file delivery. It did not include KDP upload, publication, metadata optimisation or Kindle conversion. Amazon KDP was the intended platform, not evidence of a completed upload or platform approval.

The story illustrations were supplied. No sales, ranking or advertising results are claimed, and the design decisions are not presented as a measured increase in readability or commercial performance.

John Capon’s existing review is preserved on Client Feedback.
